Pangasinan teacher hacked to death

SAN NICOLAS, Pangasinan, Philippines  – A teacher was hacked to death while her teenage daughter sustained multiple injuries when a man barged into their home here and attacked them.

Killed was Norma Zamora, 44, while her daughter, Regine, 14, a high school junior, survived the attack and is now in stable condition at the Medical Mission Group in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya.

Regine recounted that the suspect, Dionisio Mateo, 24, repeatedly hacked her mother in the head in their home in Barangay Malico and hit her, too, in the head and arms when she came to her rescue.

She said Mateo allegedly tried to rape her but she was able to escape while he was loosening his belt to remove his pants. She then sought her neighbors’ help. – Eva Visperas, Cesar Ramirez
