Alleged rapist nabbed in Palawan

MANILA, Philippines – A laborer, tagged as one of the 10 most wanted criminals in the Mimaropa area and carries a P140,000 bounty, was arrested Sunday in Palawan.

Mimaropa director Chief Superintendent Louie Palmera said the suspect, Annever Yusan, 28, was arrested on the strength of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Nelia Yap Fernandez of the Palawan City Regional Trial Court Branch 50 for four counts of rape charges.

Palmera said Yusan did not resist arrest when cornered by joint elements of the Mimaropa intelligence group and the local police in his hideout at Barangay Marangas in Bataraza, Palawan City at about 11:45 a.m. Sunday.

Yusan is the principal suspect in the raping of a 16-year-old girl in Sitio Maymanok, Barangay Alimangohan in San Vicente town five years ago.

Court records showed that Yusan first raped the girl on April 11, 2004 with threats and intimidation.

The suspect raped the victim again two days later and also two times in the first week of October 2004.

Palmera said the suspect went into hiding after the girl filed a formal complaint against him.

The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) offered a P140,000 reward for Yusan’s capture.
