Ex-guard nabbed for Legazpi slay

LEGAZPI CITY , Philippines  – A former security guard was arrested and charged for the killing of a businesswoman-aunt of Binibining Pilipinas International Melody Gersbach last April 1, after the victim’s son tagged him as the alleged gunman.

Superintendent Edgar Ardales, Legazpi City police chief, said the suspect, Christian Balitian, 27, was nabbed after the son of the victim, Mirabel Antonette Gonzales, 44, positively identified him as the triggerman.

Ardales said they were still working on the arrest of another suspect and the identification of the mastermind.

Gonzales was shot six times with a caliber .45 pistol as she was entering the gate of her house at Imperial Ridge View Subdivision in Barangay Buragwis this city. – Cet Dematera
