2 DepEd officials in Iligan suspended

Iligan City , Philippines  – Two Department of Education (DepEd) officials here were placed under 90-day preventive suspension by Education Secretary Jesli Lapus to give way to a formal investigation into alleged irregularities.

Ordered suspended were Edna Villacampa, administrative officer V, and Abundio Saavedra, principal of the Iligan City National High School.

In separate administrative cases, Domingo Samson, schools division superintendent, accused Villacampa and Saavedra of grave misconduct and disgraceful and immoral act, the former for allegedly selling teaching items and insubordination.

A third DepEd personnel, Maribel Marinas, a “utility worker,” is also being probed for allegedly receiving payment for Villacampa from teacher-applicants. – Lino de la Cruz
