Philippine Air Force delivered yesterday relief goods and medicines to some 7,000 hungry and sick residents in Guiuan, Northern Samar who’ve been marooned for several days now due to the prevailing bad weather affecting Visayas and Mindanao.
PAF spokesman, Maj. Gerardo Zamudio said that aside from relief goods, Air Force helicopters also flew in emergency personnel to Suluan and Homonhon Islands, whose residents have been isolated from the mainland for almost two weeks now.
“We sent helicopters to Guiuan following requests from local government authorities to support the delivery of food and medicines to the isolated islands,” Zamudio said.
Meanwhile, the Air Force also deployed a Nomad plane to Tacloban City to conduct aerial search for the missing passenger boat, MB Rogin, which went missing in the rough waters of Guiuan while en route to Suluan Island from the town proper.
The boat was ferrying seven passengers who, as of yesterday, has yet to be located.
However, the two sorties conducted yesterday between Guiuan and Suluan island found no traces of the missing boat.
Relatedly, the PAF is also busy conducting flying sorties to the disaster stricken areas of Misamis Oriental. – Jaime Laude
