TRECE MARTIRES CITY – Cavite Gov. Ayong Maliksi and Dr. Nelda Dator, schools division superintendent, recently distributed 150 personal computers from the Ministry of Jeollabukdo-Office of Education of the Republic of Korea to 19 public elementary and high schools in the province to enhance the skills of young Caviteños in information and communications technology.
This is the fourth batch of PCs that have been distributed since 2005 when Maliksi signed the Education Information Exchange Agreement with the Ministry of Jeollabukdo-Office of Education.
Under the agreement, 20 ICT educators from selected public elementary and high schools in Cavite will be sent to Korea for free training in ICT application in the educational system and 150 computers will be given to educators every year.
To date, 85 educators have been sent to South Korea and 550 computers have been distributed to selected schools.
Dator said Caviteño students recently topped the National Achievement Test.
She said the programs and projects of Maliksi in empowering education such as in ICT development contributed much to the students’ achievement.
Among the beneficiary schools were the Bacoor Central Elementary School, Tibig Elementary School (Silang), Amadeo Elementary School, Alfonso Elementary School, Ligtong Elementary School (Rosario), Kawit Elementary School, Gen. E. San Miguel Elementary School (Noveleta), Carasuchi Elementary School (Indang), Buenavista Elementary School (Gen. Trias), and Trece Martires City Elementary School, which received nine computers each.
