CA defers action on gov's TRO petition

The Court of Appeals yesterday deferred action on the petition for a temporary restraining order on the six-month preventive suspension of Bataan Gov. Enrique “Tet” Garcia.

In a two-page resolution penned by Associate Justice Arcangelita Romilla-Lontok, the CA’s 12th Division ordered the respondents to file their comments within 10 days.

The respondents were Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez, Overall Deputy Ombudsman Orlando Casimiro, Interior and Local Government Secretary Ronaldo Puno and private respondents Josechito Gonzaga, Ruel Masino and Alfredo Santos.

Garcia, together with three other Bataan officials, was suspended pending trial on charges of plunder, falsification of public documents and malversation of public funds.   – Mike Frialde
