'Laki sa Gatas' goes to Davao

Bear Brand Laki sa Gatas advocate Precious Lara Quigaman recently delivered an inspiring message of hope and determination to hundreds of pupils, parents and teachers of the Vicente Hizon Sr. Elementary School in Davao City.

During the milk education campaign’s kickoff caravan for Southern Mindanao, Quigaman, Miss International 2005, talked about her struggles as a young girl helping her mother vend goods in a public market in Laguna and growing up in various countries abroad with her OFW family.

Bear Brand Laki sa Gatas is a nutrition education campaign that encourages Filipinos to drink at least two glasses of milk every day.

The participants of the mothers’ session in Davao were taught how to effectively incorporate the “Go, Grow, and Glow” foods in their children’s diet.

The Grades 1 and 2 pupils of Vicente Hizon Sr. Elementary School, meanwhile, were treated to games, storytelling sessions, and other fun activities that were meant to instill in them the value of proper nutrition and good health.

The Laki sa Gatas campaign has so far visited more than 1,600 schools and reached out to more than 700,000 students, 400,000 mothers, and 7,000 teachers nationwide.
