NPAs torch Davao cellsite

DAVAO CITY – Suspected New People’s Army rebels burned yesterday morning a cellsite of the Globe Telecommunications Corp. in Barangay Lucod, Baganga, Davao Oriental.

According to Army Maj. Armando Rico, spokesman of the Armed Forces Eastern Mindanao Command, at least 10 NPA rebels attacked the said Globe cellsite by first burning its power generator at around 6 a.m.

The rebels were able to overpower the lone security guard in the area who was also divested of his service pistol.

Rico said a platoon of soldiers was immediately sent to pursue the rebels believed to have fled toward the southwest direction.
