A militant farmers’ group has dared House Speaker and Davao Rep.Prospero Nograles to help solve the recent murder of KMP-SMR spokesperson Celso Pojas even as they asked police investigators to leave no stones unturned.
Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas-Southern Mindanao Region (KMP-SMR) in a statement said Nograles should use all his powers as the fifth highest official in the land to solve the killing of Pojas right in his own congressional district.
“We particularly challenge House Speaker Nograles, to work for the early resolution of the case. He must ensure that the investigation into the killing of Pojas will be fair and square. There should be no whitewash,” KMP-SMR vice chairperson Pedro Arnado said.
Pojas, 45, was killed by motorcycle-riding gunmen lastweek. His group denounced the killing, not only because the victim was the 904th activist leader killed in the country but he was the first to fall in Davao City.
However, KMP-SMR and other farmers group here doubt whether Nograles could offer much help because the KMP was among the groups that charged lawmakers, including Nograles, with graft for allegedly receiving a portion of the controversial P728 million fertilizer fund and the alleged anomalous P16.7 billion irrigation fund.
