ANGELES CITY – Police filed parricide charges yesterday against the 85-year-old husband of “sisig queen” Lucia Cunanan, 80, who was stabbed dead in her bedroom before dawn last April 15.
A police task force tagged Cunanan’s husband Celestino as the suspect based on what it described as “strong circumstantial evidence” it had gathered from witnesses whom it refused to identify.
Mrs. Cunanan owned the Aling Lucing chain of eateries.
Except for Cunanan’s missing earrings and ring, probers found no signs of forcible entry into the couple’s home in Barangay Recto here.
Investigators declined to give more details on their evidence against Cunanan’s husband.
The couple’s housemaid earlier told police said she heard a commotion from Mrs. Cunanan’s bedroom but ignored it, saying she had become used to the frequent fights of the couple. – Ding Cervantes
