LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – A 15-year-old high school sophomore, a daughter of Pangasinan first district Rep. Arthur Celeste, formally assumed on Monday her post as the youngest member of the provincial board as president of the provincial Sangguniang Kabataan federation.
Kazel Celeste became the latest member of the 15-man provincial board in an ex-officio capacity.
In her privilege speech, Kazel, who studies in Miriam College in Quezon City, said, “I was awe-inspired into thinking that I now actually follow the footsteps of the only man I hold very dear in my heart.”
Kazel said she is sure her father is proud to see her take a seat among the honorable men and women of the province.
She said her priorities include health and education for the youth in Pangasinan.
“Anticipating your patience, I hope that my thirst for knowledge will become the guiding light in doing my role as your youngest member,” she told the board members.
However, when asked by sixth district board member Alfonso Bince, the Sanggunian’s eldest, how she would divide her time between her studies and her obligation as SK representative, Kazel admitted that she intends to attend the sessions only once a month.
This prompted Bince to remind her of the board rule that four consecutive absences might lead to suspension or removal.
