CANLUBANG, Laguna – A vice president of a transport association was shot dead by a lone gunman at a jeepney terminal Sunday night. The victim Rudy Alipio, 55, and resident of Barangay Poblacion inside Camp Vicente Lim, vice president of the Canlubang Transport group, died from a gunshot wound on his head.
According to witnesses, at around 7:30 p.m., the victim was at the jeepney terminal together with other drivers when a gunman appeared in front of him and drew an unknown caliber pistol. At gunpoint, the suspect shot the victim at close range while his companions immediately ran for their lives.
The lone gunman hastily fled on foot toward an unknown direction. The driver tried to bring the victim to the nearest hospital but Alipio died on the spot.
Police authorities are still conducting investigation of the killing of Alipio.
No suspect yet was identified and the motive is still undetermined, according to Calamba investigators.
Five months ago the former vice president of Canlubang Transport Association was killed also at the jeepney terminal and until now the case is unsolved and no suspect yet is identified.
The victim is the second official of the transport association that was killed this year. – Ed Amoroso
