BALANGA CITY – The provincial government of Bataan has set the opening of the skills training and development center today for the first batch of 30 out-of-school youth to have free technical training for welding technology.
Antonio Samaniego, chief of the Human Resource Management office, said the Sangguniang Panlalawigan has allocated a budget of P5 million to ensure the success of the long-range manpower development program of Gov. Enrique Garcia Jr.
He said the objective of the Provincial Government Skills Training and Development Center is to provide relevant, accessible, high quality and efficient skills training for human resource development planning, job skills matching, job creation and livelihood promotion for Bataan youth.
Samaniego said that Garcia has agreed with Divina Munji, vice president for Human Resource Development of the Engineering Equipment Incorporated (EEI) one of the country’s foremost labor exporters, that the firm vowed to improve the quality of life of Bataeños through the development of technical skills needed for local and overseas employment.
The EEI is providing welding machines and other equipment worth P12 million to be used for the continuous short technical courses for the out-of- school youth.
According to Samaniego, the provincial government has provided each trainee P250 daily stipend for the board and lodging and for other incidental expenses of the selected trainees.
He said the provincial government is readying also short courses for pipefitter, boiler making and industrial electricity for Bataan residents early next year. – Raffy Viray
