A magnitude 4.7 tectonic earthquake rattled parts of Cagayan province yesterday morning but caused no damage, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs said the quake struck at 6:53 a.m. with its epicenter traced at 138 kilometers northeast of Tuguegarao, Cagayan. It had a depth of 23 kms.
The tremor was felt at Intensity 4 in Sta. Ana, and Intensity 3 in Buguey, both municipalities of Cagayan.
Phivolcs said no aftershocks were recorded.
Last Nov. 27, a strong quake of magnitude 6.0 shook parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila, and caused minor damage to some structures. – Helen Flores
