3 Indian nationals nabbed for compatriot’s abduction

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – Police arrested three Indian nationals after they, along with five cohorts, kidnapped a compatriot in Magalang, Pampanga, last Tuesday.

Senior Superintendent Guillermo Eleazar, regional officer of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit-Region3, said the three Indians – identified as Bootah Singh, 46; Sukhdey Raj, 43; and Gurmeet Singh, 27 – were tagged in the abduction of Raghbir Chand, 31, an Angeles City businessman, in Barangay Sta. Maria, Magalang town.

Chand was taken to a safehouse in Barangay Bayan, Orani, Bataan, but he was able to escape on Wednesday and promptly reported his ordeal to the police.

Police swooped down on the residence of Singh in Barangay Maria Fe, Orani town and collared him while he was about to flee on board a motorcycle, Eleazar said.

The two other suspects were arrested in Lubao, Pampanga and Caloocan City.

The suspects reportedly demanded P5-million ransom for Chand’s release, Elezar said.

Police were still tracking down the three arrested suspects’ cohorts.    – With Raffy Viray
