BATANGAS CITY – A businessman who owns a money changer shop was shot after being robbed by three still unidentified suspects here Friday evening, police said.
Superintendent Christopher Tambungan, Batangas City police chief identified the victim as Jeremy Que, 35, resident of Diamond St. Mt. View Park Subdivision in Barangay Poblacion and owner of the Gerason Money Changer.
Que was also the nephew of Carlito Go, who owns the Citymart and the Baymall, two among the large shopping malls in Batangas City.
Investigators said Que had just stepped out from Banco De Oro-SM Branch after withdrawing P5-million when he was blocked by three motorcycle riding men at the corner of M.H. Del Pilar and P. Gomez Streets in Barangay 17 at around 6:05 p.m.
Que tried to allude his holduppers by speeding away on his Honda XRM (WM-5430) but he was shot several times at the back with a 9-mm caliber pistol before snatching his backpack which contained the money.
The suspects immediately fled toward an unknown direction after the heist, leaving Que bloodied on the ground.
Onlookers who were able to witness the shooting hurriedly brought Que to the St. Patrick Hospital but he later died after four hours at the intensive care unit.
