SAN FRANCISCO (AFP) - Apple announced yesterday that it has sold more than three billion songs at its iTunes online store exclusively paired with its popular iPod MP3 players.
According to statistics from market tracking firm NPD Group, iTunes is the third largest music shop in the United States, ahead of real-world Target stores and pioneering Internet retailer Amazon.
"We'd like to thank all of our customers who have contributed to this incredible milestone," said iTunes vice president Eddy Cue.
