Palace okays promotion of 6 police officials

President Arroyo has approved the promotion of six senior police officials, according to Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director Gen. Oscar Calderon.

Chief Superintendent Edgardo Doromal, the newly installed director of the PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, got his second star while Senior Superintendents Romeo Hilomen, Ramon Gatan, Perfecto Palad, and Maximo Calimlim obtained their first star.

A member of Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class of 1974, Doromal was recently installed as CIDG director, vice Director Jesus Verzosa, who was promoted as chief of the PNP Directorial Staff.

Hilomen, a member of PMA Class 1976 is the incumbent head of the PNP-Police Security Protection Office (PSPO), a police unit in charge of providing close-in security to the delegates in the 12th ASEAN Summit in Cebu.

Gatan is currently assigned as the number two man in Central Mindanao police regional office base in General Santos City, while Palad is also the deputy regional director for administration (DRDA) of the Central Luzon Regional Police Office.

Calimlim, on the other hand, is the incumbent DRDA of the MIMAROPA (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) regional police office. Gatan and Palad belong to the PMA Class of 1977 while Calimlim entered the service as a direct commissioned officer.

Also promoted was Superintendent Romeo Uy, group director of the 3rd Regional Mobile Group based in Central Luzon, who now holds the rank of Senior Superintendent.
