Thanks to Friendster, Laguna slay suspect arrested

STA. ROSA CITY — Thanks to Friendster, an online social network, the National Bureau of Investigation was able to track down and arrest a suspect in the gunslaying of four people and wounding of two others in San Pablo City last Jan. 10.

The NBI’s Laguna district office, in coordination with the local police, nabbed Rexzon Hizon, 27, in San Pablo City last Thursday, a day before he was reportedly scheduled to leave for the United States.

Olivo Ramos, head agent of the NBI’s Laguna office, said Hizon is one of the five suspects in the killing of Arnold Monecia, 33; John Andrew Belen, 22; Jimson Vergara, 17; and Blas Melvin Dequina, 15.

Belen’s younger brother, Joey Albert, 21; and Aldwin Villaruel, 20, were wounded in the attack.

Ramos said they found a picture of Hizon holding a caliber .38 revolver, similar to the one used in the killing, through Friendster, and were later able to track him down.
