Seven suspects nabbed for foiled bank rob

CABUYAO, Laguna — Police arrested seven suspected members of a robbery gang who were about to rob a rural bank here yesterday.

Chief Superintendent Jesus Versoza, Region 4-A police director, said the alleged members of the Bruno robbery hold-up gang aborted their plan to rob the Cabuyao Rural Bank when they sensed that the police had been tipped off about their plans.

The suspects fled to different directions to elude arrest but seven of them were cornered at a check point.

Two of the seven suspects — Caesario Bustamante and Ramil Porquez — were arrested along the national highway in Barangay Banlic here. Five others — Arnel Canete, Narciso Gilo, Vicente Rimas, Cornelio Perez and Christopher Rimas — were arrested along the national highway in Barangay Bubuyan in Calamba City.

Police are now pursuing other members of the group who sought refuge in their alleged hide-out in New Mahogany Subdivision in Barangay San Isidro here.

"We’re securing a search warrant to search the hide-out for suspected firearms," Versoza said.

Police seized a Pregio van with license plate XHT-415, a Toyota Corolla with license plate TGE-884, and three motorcycles, two of which have license plates YX-2355, UH-3059. — Arnell Ozaeta
