The TMG has stepped up its campaign against the illegal use of sirens and blinkers, confiscating at least 100 of these devices in a series of operations this week.
A TMG officer, who requested anonymity, said they flagged down Maliksi’s convoy when they noticed that the governor’s vehicle was using blinkers and sirens as it headed toward the tollway.
In a report, the TMG operatives said Maliksi was allowed to go after making a promise that he would remove the blinkers and sirens from his service vehicles.
"Pinara lang kami, pero nung nalamang ako (Maliksi) ang sakay, pinalampas din naman kami (We were flagged down, but when they learned that I was in the convoy, they allowed us to move on)," Maliksi told The STAR.
The TMG campaign also netted former Ambassador Roy Señeres, who was caught using an "8" license plate intended only for congressmen.
Señeres was also allowed to move on after he explained to the TMG officers that he had borrowed the vehicle from his son, Rep. Hans Christian Señeres.
