Sonny O to GMA: Shun Cebu

CEBU — In a letter, Sen. John "Sonny" Osmeña has advised President Arroyo to shun visiting Cebu as it would only be "chaotic, very confusing and very damaging" to her senatorial line-up.

Reading from his letter in a broadcast over RMN Balita, Osmeña said the chaos does not speak well of the President’s leadership.

Osmeña blamed Presidential Assistant Felix Guanzon for the bedlam among the gubernatorial candidates when he announced that the President and her slate were coming to Cebu on Feb. 27 and that none of the candidates for governor can join her on stage.

He said he does not understand why Malacañang gave Guanzon such importance when he is not part of the slate. "Akong giingnan ang Malacañang nga gaposa na si Guanzon kay nagda lang na og kasamok (I’m telling Malacañang to gag Guanzon because he brings confusion)," he said.

Osmeña has a pair of coconut husks specially made in his farm in Pamplona, Negros Occidental that will serve as his "stage" when he delivers his campaign speeches.

The senator believes that delivering his speech while standing on coconut husks will give him more mileage than standing on stage.

His cousin, Mayor Tomas Osmeña, has said publicly that he is banning the senator from taking the stage with other administration candidates. Both are running under the administration ticket. — Freeman News Service
