Cebu's Alayon party may forge alliance with Lakas, NPC

CEBU — The Alayon party will possibly enter into a coalition with the Lakas-CMD and the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) parties, said its top official during the party‘s convention in Talisay City yesterday.

Talisay City Mayor Eduardo "Edigul" Gullas, one of the founders and now regional secretary general of Alayon, said the party has not ruled with finality yet with which national party it is going to coalesce but that "it could possibly be Lakas-NPC."

Close to 500 Alayon leaders, from Talisay to Sibonga town, attended the party’s grand convention led by the Gullas brothers, Mayor Edigul and first district Rep. Jose "Dodong" Gullas, the district chairman.

Edigul was Alayon’s original founder in 1986 while Senator John "Sonny" Osmeña, was his co-founder.

The party later approved four major political moves including its plan to forge an alliance with a national party, whose principles complement Alayon’s. The party members, however, have not decided yet on what party to coalesce with.— Freeman News Service
