Senior Superintendent Roberto Rosales, Cavite police director, became the first police officer in the country to receive such an award for his accomplishments in the war against illegal drugs.
Sen. Robert Barbers and Ilocos Norte Rep. Roque Ablan, chairman and senior vice chairman, respectively, of the congressional oversight committee on dangerous drugs, handed out the award to Rosales during simple rites at the Mandarin Hotel in Makati City recently.
During his stint as Quezon police director, Rosales was instrumental in the arrest of Panulukan Mayor Ronnie Mitra and his companions, who yielded 503 kilos of shabu worth about P1 billion, on Oct. 13 last year.
The haul made it to the record books as one of the biggest shabu seizures in the countrys drug enforcement history.
Rosales also led his men in the raid on a house in Barangay Cabangaan, Silang, Cavite, where they seized shabu chemicals and drug-making equipment costing billions of pesos.
The Silang raid led to the busting of five other shabu laboratories and six warehouses in Cavite and Metro Manila.
