Lawyer Pete Principe, presiding over his last regional meeting as IBP governor for Central Luzon at the Amanda Resort in Abucay, Bataan recently, and the officers of IBP-Central Luzon unanimously passed a resolution extending their unwavering support for the highest court of the land against attacks by certain sectors.
"The Supreme Court is a great institution that the Filipino people look up to in their quest for justice. It is the bulwark of democracy," Principe said during his opening statement on the matter.
After quite a long but meaningful discussion and debate, Principle, new IBP-Central Luzon governor Dante Ilaya and the officers present unanimously approved the resolution.
In its resolution, the IBP-Central Luzon denounced the filing of an impeachment complaint against the Supreme Court justices and the holding of pickets at their homes and offices as "unwarranted attacks against the Supreme Court itself as an institution."
Aside from Principe and Ilaya, those who signed the resolution are lawyers Orlando Pangilinan, Ma. Elenita Quintana, Maria Soledad Santos, Victor de Dios Jr., Porfirio Pineda, Shalane Go Palomar, Teodoro Camacho III, Luzviminda Mapalad, Ponciano Sibug, Joe Frank Zuñiga, Vicente Bordador, Glicerio Villano, Ernesto Gonzales, Alejandria Genota, Ma.
