Davao cargo company sues 6 Taiwanese

DAVAO CITY — The court has ordered the arrest of six Taiwanese traders on estafa charges for allegedly failing to pay over P10 million in fees of a local cargo company for their shipment of tuna from the Davao fishport.

Named in the arrest warrants issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 16 Judge Emmanuel Carpio were Collin Huang, Rock Huang, Lin Mei Hung, Lin Chin Hsi, Lin Tao Jian and Hsu Yueh Chen.

Of the six, only Lin Tao Jian was able to submit his counter-affidavit. He posted P40,000 bail.

The court acted on the complaint of Napoleon Reyes, president of Long Long Air Cargo Services Inc., that Lin Mei Hung and the Huangs, stockholders of the company, allegedly conspired with Lin Chin Hsi and Hsu Yueh Chen, both of the Davao Tek Huat Marine Factory Corp., in withholding payment for the services rendered by the cargo company.

The city prosecutor’s office ruled that the six foreigners committed "deceit, unfaithfulness and abuse of confidence."

The case of the six Taiwanese has been brought to the attention of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, who vowed to look into the unscrupulous practices of foreign traders at the Davao fishport. — Edith Regalado
