Baguio apostolic vicar named

Pope John Paul II has appointed Bishop Carlito Cenzon, currently the apostolic vicar of Tabuk, as apostolic vicar of Baguio.

Baguio had not had an apostolic vicar since Bishop Ernesto Salgado was appointed the bishop of Laoag some months ago.

Cenzon was born on Jan. 25, 1939 in Baguio City. He was ordained priest on July 9, 1965, at the age of 26. On July 6, 1992, he was appointed the first apostolic vicar of Tabuk.

The Catholic clergy in the Mountain Province is composed, for the most part, of priests of the Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (CICM), to which Cenzon belongs.
