Senate spouses’ home for the elderly opens

All is set for the blessing and inauguration of Tahanang Mapagpala II, a home for the elderly, on Sept. 4 at its site at Kilometer 43 in Bulihan, Malolos, Bulacan.

Mrs. Mila Drilon, president of the Senate Spouses Foundation, will be the guest of honor and main speaker. She will be introduced by Mrs. Susana Ople, president of the Tahanang Mapagpala II Foundation.

Tahanang Mapagpala II, a nursing home for the aged, is a project of the Senate Spouses Foundation. Next to the Mapagpala I, or the social adjustment center for street children located in Caloocan City, it was turned over by the Senate Spouses Foundation to the Diocese of Malolos through Bishop Tria Tirona at ceremonies held last March 19.

The land site of the P8.6-million center was donated by the provincial government of Bulacan through the efforts of Governor Josie de la Cruz.

Conceived and constructed during the term of Mrs. Ople as president of the Senate Spouses Foundation, Tahanang Mapagpala will address the needs of elderly persons who are abandoned and materially poor from different areas, principally in Central Luzon.
