Act on Maguindanao violence, Comelec told

COTABATO CITY — Various sectors in Maguindanao have called on the Commission on Elections to intervene in the continuing poll-related hostilities in the province and place some hostile towns under its full control.

Gov. Zacaria Candao said some of his leaders have also asked that Marines be deployed in some towns where violence is feared to erupt during the May 14 elections.

Three villagers were killed and five others were wounded last Tuesday when Army escorts of a convoy of vehicles carrying politicians allegedly shot it out with armed men along the Cotabato-Isulan Highway in Datu Odin Sinsuat town. John Unson
