MANILA, Philippines - Ogie Alcasid graced the Radio Republic studio of his presence last night for Muchikahan with Ryan Cayabyab and Jay Durias. It’s amazing how his memory’s so sharp, singing some of his classic hits– he remembers everything about his songs; which movie or soap opera it was used, when, and even the actors who were in it.
He talked about when he started singing, citing his mom as the first person who introduced him to music and luwa as his training ground for becoming a professional singer.
His set list consists of ‘Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw’, which he said was commissioned work for a movie that starred his wife, Regine Velasquez, and Robin Padilla; ‘Ikaw Lamang’ which was his idea of a modern kundiman; ‘Ikaw Ang Aking Pangarap’, and ‘Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala’. His tip for aspiring musicians: “As a songwriter, you have to be brave enough to expose yourself. Embarrass yourself. I think that’s what it’s all about.â€
