MANILA, Philippines — Police officers shot dead an alleged drug user and arrested six others in Manila on Tuesday.
Donato Isip was killed in a reported shootout in Tondo at around 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Homicide investigator Police Officer 2 Jonathan Ruiz said the Manila Police District received a text message through Hotline 8888 that Isip’s house in Barangay 183 was reportedly being used as a drug den.
Chief Inspector Gilbert Cruz and his men went to the area to verify the report and saw the suspect half-naked, with a gun tucked into his waistband.
Ruiz said Isip drew his gun and fired upon seeing the policemen. He was hit in a brief firefight and was declared dead on arrival at the Tondo Medical Center, Ruiz said.
In Caloocan, six persons were caught in a drug session at a house in Package 3, Bagong Silang at around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Only Damian Jervoso, 49, was identified as among those arrested.
