Makati city hall, Quezon City school get bomb threats

MANILA, Philippines – Bomb threats disrupted the operations of the Makati city hall and a school in Quezon City yesterday.

The city hall’s switchboard operator received a call at around 9:56 a.m., with the caller saying a bomb had been planted in the building.

Mayor Abigail Binay ordered the building evacuated and searched. The call turned out to be a prank.

Also yesterday morning, officials at Don Alejandro Roces Sr. Science and Technology High School suspended classes after Facebook user Kurt Vince Berba posted that an explosion was set to happen at 2 p.m. yesterday, saying a bag containing an improvised bomb had been placed in the school.

The school was searched and declared safe before 6 a.m.
