Drugs eyed in Pasay slay

MANILA, Philippines - A 37-year-old man was shot dead by an unidentified gunman in Pasay City Sunday night.

Police investigators are eyeing an illegal drug deal as a possible motive for the killing of Roldan Catindoy, city police commander Senior Superintendent Joel Doria said.

Reports said Catindoy was standing along Tramo street when the assailant on a motorcycle stopped in front of him, drew a handgun and shot the victim at close range.

Catindoy suffered a gunshot to the head and died at the scene, police said.

The suspect sped away toward Gil Puyat Avenue after the attack.

Doria said probers were reviewing closed-circuit television footage to get leads on the identity of the assailant.

“The killing could be drug-related,” he said.
