MANILA, Philippines – Two unidentified robbers took away P800,000 minutes after a fire broke out at the second floor of a commercial building in Malate, Manila on Sunday.
Witness Ninord Pesigan, who works at the building, told police he saw two men leave the building after the fire started at around 10:30 a.m.
The South Coast Marketing Inc. building’s owner, Melanie Guinto, said that after the fire was put out less than an hour later, she checked the locked drawer of her table and found that it had been forced open and the money was gone.
The blaze spread to the third floor and destroyed around P1 million worth of property before it was put out.
