MANILA, Philippines - Two suspected robbers who posed as police officers were arrested in Parañaque City Sunday night.
Allan Anas, 28, and Abby Cabiltes, 23, were nabbed while they were about to pull off another heist at Sitio Pagkakaisa in Barangay San Martin de Porres just before 10 p.m., said Superintendent Melchor Cantil, head of the National Capital Region Police Office Regional Police Intelligence and Operation Unit.
Cantil said Anas yielded a hand grenade and a fake gun. Recovered from Cabiltes was a.38-caliber revolver with two bullets.
Cabiltes was wearing a Philippine National Police shirt at the time of his arrest, police said.
Police said the duo pretended to be police officers when accosting their victims.
Anas and Cabiltes were nabbed after an informant tipped off the police that the suspects were waiting for their target in Barangay San Martin de Porres.
The suspects are being held at the NCRPO headquarters. They will be charged with robbery and illegal possession of firearms.
