MANILA, Philippines - An inmate who had repeatedly said he wanted to be home for Christmas reportedly committed suicide in the Manila City Jail Wednesday night.
Gregorio Trinidad, 38, who was serving time in connection with an illegal drug charge, told his cellmate at around 9:30 p.m. he was lonely and would “do anything just so he could be with his family during the holidays.”
A few minutes later, Trinidad allegedly grabbed a live wire hanging in his cell and held on. He was declared dead on arrival at the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center.
Trinidad’s mother paid him a visit last Sunday, jail officials said.
