MANILA, Philippines - A Quezon City judge has allowed a suspect in the Maguindanao massacre to undergo medical examination at a government hospital.
In a two-page order released on Friday, Regional Trial Court Branch 221 Judge Jocelyn Solis-Reyes granted the request of Police Officer 3 Felix Daquilos to undergo transrectal ultrasound at the Rizal Medical Center in Pasig City.
He was also allowed to consult a urologist one week after his ultrasound.
Earlier, Daquilos was found to have an epididymal cyst and be suffering from bilateral varicocele, a condition in which the blood vessels leading to the testicles are enlarged.
The judge issued the order after the prosecution did not object to the motion.
She directed officials of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology to comply with existing rules and guidelines on the transfer of a prisoner.
The suspect was ordered to immediately submit the results of the medical examination to the court.
Daquilos is among the initial 197 suspects charged for the Nov. 23, 2009 bloodbath, which claimed the lives of 58 people, including 32 media practitioners.
