MANILA, Philippines - Several days before the implementation of a fare hike, a train of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) encountered problems and stalled upon approaching Ortigas Avenue station on Thursday afternoon.
A radio report said the southbound train had to be brought back to Santolan station due to problems with the railroad tracks. Dismayed passengers were asked to get off the coach following the incident.
Subsequent reports said MRT operations were back to normal at around 6 p.m.
The latest problem occurred several days before the implementation of a fare increase for the MRT and Light Rail Transit Lines 1 and 2 fare hike on Jan. 4.
