MMDA offers free shuttle service to NAIA

MANILA, Philippines - The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) yesterday started offering free shuttle service to airline passengers going to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

The MMDA deployed six buses, including two electric buses, to NAIA Terminals 2, 3 and 4.

The buses will pick up passengers at the South West Integrated Provincial Terminal in Parañaque and SM Mall of Asia in Pasay.

MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino said the move aims to reduce the number of vehicles going to the airport during the Christmas season.

“Instead of these passengers utilizing their own cars or cabs to bring them to the airport, they can go as a group by availing themselves of the free airport shuttle service we are providing,” Tolentino said.

The free shuttle service will run until Dec. 23.

Airline passengers must show their airline tickets to enjoy the free ride.

“We are targeting travelers expected to go to the provinces to spend the holidays,” Tolentino said.

Last week, the MMDA, in cooperation with public utility bus operators, dispatched shuttle services to six major malls along EDSA to provide transportation to mall employees and late-night shoppers.

Meanwhile, the Manila International Airport Authority thanked the MMDA for providing free shuttle service to airline passengers.
