Netizens up in arms vs man who robbed kid

MANILA, Philippines - The online community was in an uproar yesterday over a viral video showing a boy, who sells pandesal in Caloocan City, in shock after allegedly being robbed of his earnings worth P200 by an unidentified man.

Uploaded by Facebook user Christopher Pacheco, the 47-second video showed grade six student Mark Christopher Santos seated and crying on a sidewalk after the supposed robbery in Barangay 168 in Deparo, Caloocan City on Tuesday.

A man heard speaking in the video said the supposed assailant first bought pandesal from the boy before taking his money. The video showed people comforting the trembling child, giving him water and – according to some posts – money.

The video had immediately gone viral on the Internet, with netizens expressing outrage against the man who supposedly stole the boy’s earnings. Others inquired about Santos and asked how they can help him.

The original post of Pacheco has been viewed over 430,000 times as of yesterday and shared more than 13,200 times on Facebook.

One user described Santos as the eldest among his siblings and sells pandesal every day to help his family.

Pacheco later posted his photo with the child and relayed the gratitude of the Santos family for the support given to them by netizens.
