MANILA, Philippines - The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) yesterday raised the possibility that Zenaida Sison, mother of actress Cherry Pie Picache, knew her killers.
The NBI said the suspects in the killing of Sison, 75, could be members of the “Akyat Bahay” gang or part-time house helpers.
Reports said that Sison lived alone and only three cleaning women who worked in shifts as well as two gardeners had access to her house.
According to investigators, the suspects appeared to be familiar with the victim’s house.
The NBI said it found pieces of evidence from the crime scene such as blood samples that could help solve the case.
Bu the NBI did not lift fingerprints from the crime scene, saying it had been “contaminated.”
“Many people had gone in and out of the house,” an NBI prober said.
Picache had earlier sought the help of the NBI in arresting the killers of her mother.
The bureau’s Death Investigation Division has taken the statements of several possible witnesses, including a couple who were initially invited by police for questioning but eventually released.
Sison’s body was riddled with stab wounds when she was found at her home in Barangay Paligsahan, Quezon City on Sept. 19.
