DOJ: Enzo’s widow can’t leave Phl

MANILA, Philippines - The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has alerted international airports should slain car racing champ Enzo Pastor’s widow – now a suspect in his June 12 murder – try to leave the country, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said yesterday.

Daliah Pastor – as spelled in her passport – was charged with parricide and frustrated murder in a complaint filed by the Philippine National Police with the DOJ last Thursday. She remains at large.

Daliah’s alleged lover, businessman Domingo de Guzman III, and self-confessed gunman Police Officer 2 Edgar Angel are in police custody and have been charged with murder and frustrated murder.

The frustrated murder charge stems from the injuries inflicted on Pastor’s assistant, Paolo Salazar, who was wounded in the attack.

While no hold departure order has been issued against Daliah, she can still be prevented from leaving the country while the DOJ is conducting preliminary investigation, Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said.

“If she attempts to leave, that is clearly an attempt to flee and an indication of flight. That’s an indication that she is evading possible prosecution,” she said.

“So if that’s the case – that you knowingly take that action – then we can consider that obstruction of justice,” De Lima added.

De Lima said this as the DOJ issued yesterday afternoon a lookout bulletin order (LBO) against Daliah, De Guzman and Angel.

In the LBO, the DOJ ordered BI officers in the airports to immediately report to the police if any of the three would be spotted at the airports.

It was learned that Daliah is a foreigner, but the BI did not specify. De Lima earlier said Daliah – now considered a “person of interest” – remains in the country, according to the BI database.

 Shortchanged

Angel told investigators he felt “shortchanged” by De Guzman when he found out – after killing Pastor – that his victim was a high-profile target, Chief Inspector Rodel Marcelo, head of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, said.

Angel said the P100,000 he was paid for killing Pastor was not enough, so he told alleged mastermind De Guzman that he had a companion when he killed the car racer.

Angel claimed he was just shown photos of Daliah with bruises supposedly from beatings she received.

Angel said De Guzman, who is a godfather of his youngest child, promised him a P50,000 bonus. The businessman was arrested when he handed the bonus to Angel, who had been caught in a drug bust some days before.
