MANILA, Philippines - A bomb threat that turned out to be a hoax prompted the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) to suspend classes yesterday.
The PUP is the third university in the past two weeks that suspended classes over bomb threats.
Investigators said someone sent a text message claiming that a bomb was planted in PUP’s main building.
Members of Manila Police District (MPD) explosives and ordnance division (EOD) searched the area and said the threat was a hoax.
In an earlier interview, MPD-EOD chief Inspector Arnold Santos said seven out of 10 bomb scares in Manila this year involved schools.
This makes PUP the eighth school to have been rocked by bomb threats this year.
