MANILA, Philippines - Actor and TV host Vhong Navarro faced the woman who had accused him of raping her at the Quezon City prosecutor’s office yesterday.
Navarro attended the preliminary hearing of the rape complaint filed against him by model Roxanne Cabanero.
He submitted his rejoinder to the complaint.
Cabanero, who worked as a double in a soap opera that starred Navarro, lodged the charges against the actor for the alleged rape that occurred in a sport utility vehicle in 2009.
At the prosecutor’s office, she hurled her sunglasses at Navarro, hitting his bodyguards.
The comedian ignored Cabanero’s action and remained mum as she called him a rapist.
Florenciana Cornejo, grandmother of model Deniece Cornejo who had also filed a rape complaint against Navarro, along with their supporters shouted at the actor when he went out of the fiscal’s office.
Cornejo’s uncle had an altercation with one of Navarro’s lawyers after the latter questioned him for carrying a placard bearing the words “Justice for the rape victims. Jail the serial rapist.’’
With the rejoinder, the rape complaint against the TV host will be submitted for resolution before Assistant City Prosecutor Nilda Ordono, who will decide if the case will be filed in court.
