España Boulevard repair to take two months

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said yesterday it will start a drainage and road improvement project along España Boulevard in Manila on May 15 and the project will take two months.

The DPWH-National Capital Region said it will work round-the-clock on the España Boulevard phase two project, which lies between P. Campa and N. Reyes streets.

The project is supposed to end on July 13 or 30 days earlier than the contract duration of 90 calendar days.

DPWH Secretary Rogelio Singson said they “want to finish this project within 60 days, in time for the opening of college classes that moved their academic year opening to August.”

The P14.3 million project aims to alleviate the frequent flooding at España.

Alternate routes for northbound motorists are from Quezon Boulevard take A. Mendoza, Laon Laan, Dimasalang or A. Mendoza, J. Barlin, P. Noval, España Boulevard or C.M. Recto Avenue, Legarda, Earnshaw and SH Loyola; and from Taft Avenue take Ayala, P. Casal, Legarda, Earnshaw, SH Loyola.

Southbound motorists should take the following route: from Quezon Avenue take Kanlaon, P. Florentino/P. Margal/Dapitan, A. Mendoza and Quezon Boulevard (Quiapo); from E. Rodriguez Avenue take Josefina, J. Fajardo, Earnshaw, Legarda and C.M. Recto Avenue; from España Boulevard take A. H. Lacson, Earnshaw, Legarda, C.M. Recto Avenue or take Adelina, A. Mendoza and Quezon Boulevard (Quiapo).

Parking will not be allowed along Dapitan, Laon Laan, A.H. Lacson, P. Noval, R. Papa, P. Paredes, J. Barlin, SH Loyola and N. Reyes, the DPWH said.
