MANILA, Philippines - A tricycle driver was shot dead by two motorcycle-riding gunmen in Quezon City Friday night.
Boy Atendido, 37, died on the scene in Barangay San Bartolome in Novaliches, said case investigator Police Officer 2 Louie Serbito of the Quezon City Police District.
Serbito said the victim, who had a female passenger at the time of the attack, was cruising along Dela Cruz street when he was shot.
The officer said the tricycle was passing by a funeral home when two men on a motorcycle blocked their path. Without warning, one of the men pulled out a gun and shot Atendido in the head, killing him instantly.
Police recovered a fired .45 caliber shell at the crime scene and three sachets of suspected shabu in the pockets of the victim.
The identities of the assailants and the motive behind the attack have yet to be determined.
