MANILA, Philippines - A former carwash attendant was arrested after he tried to steal a car from the parking area of a mall in Quezon City Tuesday night.
Bryan Quinio, 29, allegedly used a duplicate key to open and drive off a black Toyota Corolla from the mall’s parking building, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Chief Superintendent Richard Albano said.
According to Albano, the suspect also yielded items apparently stolen from another car parked at the same building.
QCPD Station 2 commander Superintendent Pedro Sanchez said Kim Paulo Dimaano parked his Corolla on the fourth level of the parking building Tuesday afternoon. When he returned to his car at about 8 p.m., he saw Quinio about to drive it off.
The victim sought the assistance of mall guards, who arrested the suspect.
When he was apprehended, Quinio also yielded a portable playstation and a black wallet with identification cards under the name of Silveriano Villanueva III.
Sanchez noted that at around 9 p.m. Tuesday, Villanueva reported the loss to mall guards, who advised him to go to the QCPD Station 2.
