MANILA, Philippines - A Commission on Appointments (CA) hearing on the nomination of Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Ramon Paje was postponed yesterday for no apparent reason.
The hearing, scheduled for today, was supposed to precede the weekly CA session at the Senate plenary hall but Sen. Loren Legarda, who heads the hearing panel, reset the hearing.
“There was no reason given for the postponement,†a congressman who is a CA member told The STAR. He said the CA was forced to also scrap its weekly session today “because we have nothing to take up.â€
Aside from Paje, three other Cabinet members still have to hurdle the CA process. They are Justice Secretary Leila de Lima, Energy Secretary Jericho Petilla and Social Welfare Secretary Corazon Soliman.
