MANILA, Philippines - Mayor Herbert Bautista and Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte are expected to lead today the celebration of Chinese New Year along Banawe street, dubbed Quezon City’s Chinatown.
The celebration was organized by the office of the vice mayor, which is currently handing tourism-related projects of the local government.
In addition to boosting tourism at the city’s Chinatown, Belmonte said the project also aims to recognize the contributions of the Chinese-Filipino community to the development of Quezon City.
The event – which will start at 4 p.m. – will feature the traditional dragon dances and fireworks, as well as discounts from restaurants in the area.
